Job summary

Virtus is seeking a Senior Manager of AI Engineering & Platform in Overland Park, KS. This on‑site role operates Monday–Thursday with remote Fridays, building the technology foundation for the firm’s AI enablement and data strategy.

You will own data platform architecture, API integration, and enterprise AI enablement, while delivering scalable internal applications and governance. The role requires deep cloud experience, Python/SQL/TypeScript, and hands‑on leadership to shape Virtus’ technology

Qualifications

• Five+ years of engineering experience with full‑stack development and data engineering.
• First engineering hire in a growing organization with autonomy and accountability.
• Python, SQL, and TypeScript as working languages.
• Cloud experience, preferably Microsoft Azure; AWS or Google Cloud acceptable with Azure proficiency.
• Daily use of AI‑assisted software development tools and LLM technologies; live build session during interview.
• Ability to independently deploy, monitor, and maintain production systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Data Platform Ownership: liaise with external data platform and analytics partners; oversee data models and vendor solutions.
• API & Integration Architecture: design and maintain a Virtus‑owned API layer to connect data sources and apps.
• Knowledge Management & AI Enablement: support enterprise knowledge management and AI workflows.
• Application Development & Platform Engineering: lead design, development, and deployment of internal apps; establish platform standards.
• Technical Leadership & Architecture Oversight: provide cross‑portfolio guidance and guardrails for scalability and security.
