Job summary

Capital One is seeking an Sr. Staff AI Engineer, remote-eligible, to lead the design and deployment of AI-powered products. You will collaborate with engineers, researchers, PMs, and data scientists to advance foundation models, multi-agent workflows, and governance within a scalable AI infrastructure.

You will optimize training/inference, drive platform initiatives, and mentor senior engineers while aligning with Capital One’s responsible AI standards and enterprise-wide architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in a related field with extensive AI/ML experience
• 10+ years of AI/ML algorithm/tech development
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA or Java

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies including AWS, HuggingFace, PyTorch
• Invent foundation model optimization techniques to improve performance and cost
• Define and steer the technical AI architecture vision across production systems
• Lead AI safety, governance, and transparency standards across Capital One
