Job summary
Shipt seeks a Principal Agentic Engineer to architect and deploy the Agentic AI platform powering real‑time routing, pay, and coverage across the national fulfillment network. You will collaborate with data science, engineering and product teams to bind tools, orchestrate agents and embed reasoning in high-throughput microservices.
You will mentor staff, drive architectural decisions, and ensure fiscal responsibility and reliability at scale in a hybrid work model across Birmingham, AL and other
Qualifications
- 10+ years of backend software development experience
- Experience leading technical discussions and driving consensus
- Mentorship abilities to grow engineers into leaders
- Experience with Python/Golang
- Experience with SOA and microservices
- Proven ability to deploy systems using LLMs beyond chat interfaces
- Ability to design evaluation strategies for agent performance and ROI
- Familiarity with orchestration platforms like LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI
- Experience with monitoring/tracing tools such as LangSmith, DataDog
Responsibilities
- Architect and deploy Shipt's Agentic AI platform across the national network
- Collaborate with data science, engineering and product teams to integrate autonomous reasoning
- Design offline/online evaluation strategies for agent performance and business impact
- Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and compliant at scale
- Lead and mentor senior engineers and drive technical consensus
