Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Staff AI Engineer for the Agentic AI Platform. The role focuses on building responsible, scalable AI systems and leading cross‑functional teams to deliver AI‑powered products for customers and associates.

You will work with AWS, Huggingface, PyTorch, and VectorDBs to optimize training and inference, while shaping the architecture and governance standards across Capital One. Remote eligible with strong collaboration across locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s with required years of AI/ML experience as stated in the job ad.
• At least 10 years of experience programming in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver AI‑powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and LLM inference.
• Leverage open source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch.
• Invent and apply foundation model optimization techniques for scale, cost, latency, and throughput.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long‑term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.
• Define and steer the technical AI architecture vision integrating research into production with reliability.
• Lead AI performance, safety, and transparency standards across model development and deployment.
• Drive multi‑year platform initiatives unifying data, compute and model lifecycle management.
• Mentor senior technical leaders across research, data and engineering.
