Job summary

Chainguard is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Container Product Engineering. You will be the most senior individual contributor on a team of about fifteen engineers, setting technical direction for Chainguard Containers from idea to customer.

You will shape the hardened foundation—images, registry, and adoption tooling—while staying hands-on, writing and reviewing code weekly and leading the largest multi‑team projects to production.

Qualifications

10+ years building and operating software with paying customers.
Proven track record as technical lead of large multi-team projects.
Open source contributions or standards involvement.
Experience shaping roadmaps with engineers and product leaders.
Strong Go service design and cloud infrastructure exposure.

Responsibilities

Set technical direction for Chainguard Containers across pipeline, registry, and tooling.
Lead multi‑team delivery from concept to production and adoption.
Make trade‑offs at product level and document decisions.
Mentor Staff and Senior engineers to grow technical leadership.
Work with AI coding agents and define safe usage standards.
Cross‑team collaboration to anticipate planning cycles.
