Job summary

Chainguard is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager for Container Product Engineering. You will lead a team of about fifteen engineers who design and ship features, services, and build systems behind Chainguard Containers.

This Director-track role reports to the VP of Engineering for Containers, Libraries, and Repositories. The role emphasizes security-by-default foundations, ownership of outcomes end to end, and close alignment with product roadmaps while staying hands-on when needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience including 5+ years managing teams.
• Experience leading senior engineers (Staff/Principal) on teams of ten or more.
• Real product engineering depth with shipped features for paying customers in hyper-growth environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead Container Product Engineering team with clear goals and small sub-teams.
• Coach senior engineers; build career paths and manage performance.
• Partner with Product Managers to translate requirements into outcomes and protect the team from churn.
• Review designs and PRs; maintain technical bar and make final calls on difficult decisions.
• Hands-on contributor when needed and advocate for AI-native tooling adoption.
