Job summary

Figma is seeking a senior infrastructure/AI platform engineer to anchor the Infra pillar. You’ll design hosting paths for internal AI apps, build model routing across cost-effective models, and implement observability and cost attribution for AI workloads.

You’ll collaborate with security, IT, and product AI infra teams, shaping platform strategy as a founding member of the infrastructure pillar. Remote US work is supported.

Qualifications

• 5 years of software engineering experience, with significant time in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering.
• Experience building internal platforms adopted by other teams, with strong cross-team collaboration.
• Strong system design skills for resilient, observable production systems.
• Hands-on experience with LLM operations: model gateways or routing, agent runtimes, evals, or cost/usage instrumentation.
• Experience with identity and access management in an enterprise environment (e.g., Okta, SSO, secure service-to-service auth).

Responsibilities

• Design and build the hosting path for internal AI apps, including runtime patterns for long-running workflows.
• Build the model routing layer across frontier and lower-cost models based on cost, capability, and policy with an audit trail.
• Stand up observability, usage analytics, audit logging, and per-team cost attribution for AI workloads.
• Integrate identity, access, and security patterns (Okta-connected by default) for day-one safety including sensitive-data workflows.
• Partner with engineers on product AI infra teams to share gateways and telemetry instead of building parallel systems.
• Help shape the team's platform strategy, roadmap, and engineering practices as a founding member of the infrastructure pillar.
