Job summary

Salesforce is seeking an experienced Software Engineer in Seattle to build AI-enabled systems and secure, scalable backend services. You will design and ship production-grade software with AI as a core development component, integrating AI agents into human workflows and ensuring observability for long-running AI jobs.

Strong Java experience (4+ years) and familiarity with RESTful APIs, AWS, and CI/CD pipelines are required.

Qualifications

4+ years of professional Java development experience.
Genuine AI-first approach to engineering using AI to move faster.
Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor).
Ability to design, iterate on, and test prompts for structured LLM outputs (JSON).
Designing and consuming RESTful APIs with working knowledge of AWS services.
Experience with Bazel or Maven and a monorepo.
CI/CD pipelines experience with Jenkins, Docker, container ops.
TypeScript (Node) and/or Python service development considered a plus.
Office-Flex: work in-person three days per week; or 10 days per quarter for some teams.

Responsibilities

Build and ship high-quality, production-grade software with AI as a core part of development workflow.
Design complex systems where AI agents integrate into human workflows at scale.
Architect and maintain backend services integrating LLMs via external APIs with robust observability.
Critically evaluate code (Human or AI) for quality, security, and performance.
Develop test automation and quality tooling (unit/CI tests, failure analysis, flake awareness).
