Goodwin Company is seeking an AI-Native Backend Engineer to design and scale the systems powering our aviation platform. The role emphasizes backend excellence, building production services with Node.js/Express, and advancing AI-enabled workflows.

You will design scalable APIs, optimize PostgreSQL schemas, work with AWS, and collaborate with frontend, product, and operations teams. You will push observability, monitor performance, and explore emerging AI tools to improve real-world outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend engineering experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Express.
• Experience using AI frameworks such as LangGraph to build workflows.
• Proven track record shipping production-grade systems.
• Skilled in designing scalable APIs, data models, and PostgreSQL schemas.
• AWS production experience.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services powering Goodwin's platform.
• Architect scalable RESTful APIs used across the product.
• Design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas modeling trip, pricing, and payment workflows.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to connect user-facing workflows with backend systems.
• Improve observability through logging, monitoring, and performance instrumentation.
• Provide production support during critical operational periods.
