Job summary

Abacus Insights is accelerating data and AI to empower health plans. We seek a tech lead who sets technical direction, designs systems, and mentors engineers while staying hands-on.

You’ll collaborate with product, data quality, DevOps, and business teams to deliver scalable GenAI solutions that power Abacus Agents and related tools. Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in ML/AI engineering, leadership experience, and strong Python/TensorFlow/PyTorch skills, with a track record of delivering

Qualifications

• 3+ years of ML/AI engineering experience in high-velocity, high-growth environments.
• Proven track record leading software teams toward production-grade systems.
• Strong knowledge of GenAI, model architectures, and evaluation benchmarks.
• Proficient in Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and scalable ML/AI architecture.
• Experience delivering end-to-end model and system development.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals and Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with Cloud/AI architecture, MCP, and data pipelines.
• Understanding of roles adjacent to software development and business partners.
• Healthcare data familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical voice on projects and translate roadmaps into technical direction.
• Shape AI areas and deploy state-of-the-art models affecting products and services.
• Develop data collection, fine-tuning, and ML pipelines for model training and evaluation.
• Build scalable backend systems to support GenAI products with robust telemetry.
• Mentor engineers while staying hands-on and aligning with architecture and standards.
• Participate in architectural discussions and drive improvements for Agile teams.
• Represent Abacus credibly in customer-facing technical conversations.
• Balance delivery with roadmap commitments and incident management.
