Abbott seeks a hands-on software engineering leader to drive production-grade agentic systems on the Abbott AI Platform. The role is director-mapped, initially a player-coach, delivering measurable outcomes while building and guiding a team of agentic engineers.

You will set technical standards, oversee delivery, and mentor a team of 3–8 engineers, shaping reusable patterns for the platform paved road.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of software engineering experience with distributed, API-driven, or workflow-intensive systems.
• Hands-on experience designing, coding, testing, deploying, and operating agentic or LLM-based applications in production; active technical contributor.
• Strong understanding of agent architecture, tool calling, durable state, multi-agent coordination, and safety controls.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one of TypeScript, Go, or Java, with API, CI/CD, testing, and secure SDLC.

Responsabilités

• Design, implement, and operate production agentic systems with supervisor, planner/executor, and multi-agent patterns.
• Build durable, resumable workflows with persistent state and idempotency.
• Integrate tools with enterprise systems, including contracts, schemas, and retries.
• Develop context-engineering strategies for retrieval, memory, and grounding.
• Create evaluation systems with datasets, LLM-based judges, and CI/testing gates.
• Instrument agent apps with observability for prompts, tool calls, and latency.
• Ensure production reliability: latency, concurrency, failure containment, and rollback.
