Job summary

Bausch + Lomb is seeking a Lead AI Engineer, Knowledge & Semantic Systems to build and maintain enterprise data and retrieval systems powering AI solutions. This role focuses on semantic models, knowledge graphs, metadata frameworks, and retrieval capabilities across teams in a hybrid work setting at our Bridgewater, NJ location.

You will partner with data engineering, AI, analytics, and business teams to codify metric definitions, govern taxonomies, and ensure historical validity while driving

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS or related field.
• 5+ years in data engineering, analytics, semantic modeling, or knowledge engineering.
• Expertise in SQL, dimensional data modeling, and metric governance.
• Hands-on with semantic layer tools (dbt Semantic Layer, LookML, Cube, LookML, AtScale).
• Experience designing knowledge graphs, ontologies, and graph databases (Neo4j).
• Experience with entity resolution, identity management, and master data concepts.
• Experience with vector databases, retrieval systems, and search optimization.
• Understanding of LLM-enabled solutions, RAG, tool calls, MCP.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the governed semantic layer for commercial metrics and access policy.
• Codify metric definitions, reconcile conflicting definitions across brands and finance.
• Build constraints to prevent semantically meaningless queries and wrong joins.
• Extend ontology and knowledge graph covering taxonomy and relationships.
• Apply entity resolution across sources and maintain identity reconciliation.
• Maintain taxonomies and synonym mappings for consistent interpretation.
• Encode temporal validity for territory changes and segment refreshes.
• Own the retrieval stack end to end including embedding and index tuning.
• Monitor retrieval quality with labeled data and regression tests.
• Manage reindexing, embedding drift, and vector infrastructure at scale.
• Expose capabilities via interfaces and MCP servers with clear contracts.
• Partner with Applied AI Agents engineers and align on data definitions.
• Diagnose grounding failures and remediate issues in the data layer.
• Operate a federated contribution model and curate canonical models.
