Job summary

AbbVie’s global Information Research group seeks a Semantic AI Engineer to build and operationalize semantic capabilities that connect ontologies and reference standards across enterprise platforms. You will apply AI-enabled services to support data integration and decision-making at scale.

The role requires strong knowledge of semantic technologies and collaboration across platform, data, and governance teams, with a focus on reliable delivery and FAIR data principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Data Science, CS, Informatics, Software Engineering, Semantic Technologies or related field with years of experience.
• Experience building production-quality data, software or semantic solutions including APIs and tools.
• Knowledge of ontologies, vocabularies, knowledge graphs, semantic standards, metadata, mapping, normalization and FAIR data principles.
• Ability to translate governance requirements into scalable technical designs and CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI-driven semantic solutions that embed ontologies into enterprise platforms.
• Engineer ontologies, vocabularies, mappings, and semantic contracts into reusable services and components.
• Enable inference, search, normalization, and data integration across enterprise-scale workflows.
• Collaborate to define implementation patterns and ensure FAIR data principles within software assets.
• Create documentation and patterns to help teams consume EOS capabilities consistently.
