Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 5 to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team in San Jose. You will design and deploy AI software components, including foundation model training and large language model inference, with a broad stack of AI tools and open‑source technologies.

You will lead multi‑model orchestration, governance reviews, and drive cost‑performance improvements across production AI systems while mentoring other engineers and shaping the technical roadmap.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field with 4–6+ years (Master's) or 6+ years (Bachelor's) in AI/ML development.
• Proven programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java (6+ years).
• Experience leading AI/ML systems and scalable production deployments on cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and inference.
• Lead multi‑model orchestration pipelines and cost‑performance governance.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to long‑term AI systems roadmap.
