Job summary

Capital One seeks an AI Engineer to advance foundation models, LLM inference, and agent workflows within the IFX team in Cambridge, MA. You will partner with engineers and researchers to design and deploy scalable AI systems that power real‑time, personalized banking experiences.

You will optimize performance, contribute to governance and safety, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating across Capital One's AI platforms and data teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/AI/EE or related field with 3+ years AI/ML experience.
• 3+ years experience programming with Python/Go/Scala/CUDA/Java.
• Strong foundation in engineering and mathematics.
• Experience with scalable AI systems and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional engineers, researchers, PMs to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, train, deploy and support AI software components including LLMs and agents.
• Benchmark and optimize multi-turn conversational and tool-using agent workflows.
• Develop scalable pipelines for training and deploying foundation models.
• Collaborate on data curation, model evaluation and governance.
• Mentor junior AI engineers and promote engineering excellence.
