Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team in McLean, VA. You will design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, agents and multi-agent workflows, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, governance, and observability.

You will work with a cross-functional team, leverage Open Source and SaaS technologies like AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in a relevant field with multiple years of AI/ML experience.
Strong programming experience in Python and at least one of Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
Experience deploying scalable AI systems and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, and governance.
Leverage Open Source and SaaS tech such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch.
Invent optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, latency, and throughput of large-scale AI systems.
Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI at Capital One.
Lead multi-model orchestration pipelines and establish cost-performance governance reviews.
