Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 5 to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team in San Jose, CA. You will design and deploy AI systems, including foundation models, LLM inference, and agent workflows, collaborating with engineers, researchers, PMs, and data scientists.

You will optimize pipelines, leverage open-source and SaaS AI tools, and drive cost-performance governance while mentoring other engineers and influencing the technical roadmap for scalable AI at Capital One.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies
• At least 6 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and LLM inference
• Implement and optimize multi-model orchestration pipelines and vector search
• Lead governance reviews and mentor engineers to elevate technical maturity
