Job summary

Workiva is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the AI Enablement team. You will own a domain such as MCP server infrastructure or wk-ai-prototyping, and lead integration of AI tools within a secure, FedRAMP-friendly environment.

You will build and deploy MCP servers, write scalable code, and guide product teams on embedding AI agents into workflows, while maintaining high-quality standards and mentorship across the team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of related software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in back-end services, proxy servers, and API integrations.
• Experience with Python, Go, or TypeScript is preferred.
• Extensive experience using AI-augmented IDEs (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to maintain high throughput and quality.
• Ability to translate complex technical implementations into clear, actionable documentation for the broader engineering org.

Responsibilities

• Architecture & Technical Mastery: Own a specific domain and be the primary maintainer.
• Build & Deploy: Architect and maintain internal MCP servers and deploy cloud-hosted agents.
• Resilient Implementation: Deliver software solutions with sustainable and reusable code.
• Tooling Evaluation: Spike on emerging AI tools to ensure compatibility with security standards.
• Best Practice Documentation: Create playbooks that standardize how engineers use AI.
• Light Consulting: Help product teams integrate AI agents into workflows.
• Data-Driven Quality: Implement and monitor metrics to measure AI impact on velocity and quality.
• Skill Mastery: Mentor team members in AI-augmented development and code reviews.
• Cultural Catalyst: Share successful AI use cases to promote adoption.
