Job summary

Backcountry is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to build AI-accelerated test automation across web, API, and mobile platforms. You will own the automation framework, integrate tests into GitHub Actions, and drive strategic quality gates throughout the SDLC.

You will mentor teammates, apply risk-based testing, and work with engineers to ensure robust release validation while leveraging AI-assisted tooling to accelerate testing efforts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Quality Assurance and Testing with 3+ years building automation in CI/CD
• Hands-on Playwright for web and API automation; Cypress or Selenium is a plus
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python; production-grade test code

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable automation suites across web, API, and mobile
• Use AI coding tools to generate test plans, cases, and data from requirements
• Own quality gates and harden the AI-generated tests before merge
• Integrate tests into GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
• Collaborate with engineers to embed tests and API contract checks
• Track quality metrics and drive test strategy across automation and manual coverage
• Mentor QA engineers on automation and responsible AI testing
