Job summary

Upshop is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to own quality, reliability, and performance through strong automation. You will build end-to-end and API coverage, contribute to test strategy, and shift quality left with agents, RAG, and prompt engineering.

You will advocate for quality, challenge weak processes, and adapt to a fast-paced engineering culture, ensuring high standards across the product. You will design and run E2E/UI/API tests, drive defect closure, and maintain pipeline trust.

Qualifications

• 7-8+ years in Quality Engineering (QE) or as an SDET.
• Hands-on with Cypress, WebDriverIO, Karate; strong JS/TS and Node.js frameworks.
• Experience building automation frameworks and core testing practices.
• Practical use of AI coding agents with prompt engineering and RAG workflows.
• Shift-left mindset with requirement-traced automation and human accountability.
• Proactive quality advocate with willingness to challenge defaults and improve.
• Adaptable to fast-paced engineering, delivering quality under changes.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain E2E tests (Cypress, WebDriverIO) and API tests (Karate) in JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js.
• Choose testing layers strategically; prove rules and data in API tests; UI/mobile when proof is needed.
• Run suites, analyze failures, drive defects to close, ensure pipeline reliability.
• Shift left: review acceptance criteria for testability and map criteria to API/Web/Mobile.
• Keep tests traced from design through automation; CI/release results are the truth.
• Use AI agents to design cases, implement automation, and raise reviewable PRs with safeguards.
• Own team quality outcomes and advocate for planning, risk management, and coverage.
• Stay effective as scope/timelines shift while maintaining test quality.
