Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a senior cloud infrastructure engineer to design and operate secure, scalable AI-focused cloud infrastructure across AWS and on-premises environments. The role emphasizes governance, cost management, and production-grade platforms.

You will work with Cybersecurity, Architecture, and DevOps teams to implement landing zones, platform services, and robust monitoring while supporting AI workloads and edge deployments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AWS engineering experience including IAM, VPC, compute, and storage.
• Strong Kubernetes expertise (EKS/ROSA/OpenShift).
• Solid networking fundamentals and hybrid connectivity knowledge.
• Experience with API gateways and integration patterns.
• Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform; scripting with Python/PowerShell.
• Knowledge of cloud security principles, IAM and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain AWS accounts, landing zones, and reference patterns for AI workloads.
• Engineer compute, storage, and networking foundations for AI workloads.
• Enable and operate AI platform services like Bedrock and SageMaker.
• Build reusable IaC modules, templates and pipelines for rapid AI deployments.
• Collaborate with security, architecture and compliance to enforce guardrails.
• Provide cost transparency and FinOps practices for AI workloads.
• Operate Kubernetes environments and integrate on-premises edge solutions.
