Job summary

DaySmart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to evolve our core API services and Vue-based frontend for TeamUp, a leading fitness studio management platform. You will design, develop, and maintain backend systems in Python with Django and FastAPI, modernize architectures, and build AI-powered capabilities in collaboration with product and customers.

The role emphasizes reliable, scalable design, strong RESTful APIs, and hands-on frontend work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend Python development with Django and FastAPI.
• Strong RESTful API design principles and best practices.
• Experience building production SPAs with Vue 3 and the Composition API.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
• Experience with asynchronous programming and task queues (e.g., Celery).
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and ability to judge generated output.
• Excellent problem-solving and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core API services and backend systems using Python, Django, and FastAPI.
• Modernize the application from a legacy Django MVC to an API-first approach.
• Optimize performance and scalability to handle growing demand.
• Design data models and database schemas for new features.
• Build and extend Vue-based frontend features and define API contracts.
• Write clean, tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Leverage AI coding assistants and tooling to plan, generate, and test code.
• Contribute to AI-powered product capabilities and retrieval pipelines.
• Troubleshoot production issues with operations for reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations (future requirement).
• Engage with product managers and customers to translate needs into solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge.
