Job summary

DaySmart Software is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to evolve our TeamUp platform. You will design, develop, and maintain core API services and backend systems using Python, Django, and FastAPI, while building Vue-based frontends for customers.

This AI-first environment encourages using AI coding assistants and integrating AI-powered capabilities. It is a US-based remote role with opportunities to collaborate with product teams and customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development with Python and frameworks like Django and FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
• Experience with asynchronous programming and task queues (e.g., Celery).
• Demonstrated fluency with AI-assisted development — daily use of tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, with sound judgment about when to rely on generated output and when to write it yourself.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core API services and backend systems using Python, Django, and FastAPI.
• Optimize application performance and scalability to handle increasing user demand and data volume.
• Design and implement data models and database schemas to support new features and functionalities.
• Build and extend customer-facing features in Vue SPA, and define API contracts with frontend engineers.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code; participate in code reviews.
