Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking an AI Engineer to join its engineering team in Boston. The role focuses on backend development and Generative AI, designing, building, and deploying production-grade AI systems with a strong Java foundation.

You will design and scale microservices, integrate AI capabilities into customer-facing apps, and ensure reliability, performance, and observability across environments. Strong backend, cloud, and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Java and modern backend development frameworks.
• Experience building and supporting APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience integrating AI, machine learning, or LLM-based solutions into production applications.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and modern application architectures.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and production support.
• Experience designing scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize backend services that support AI and LLM-powered workflows.
• Build and maintain scalable APIs and microservices using Java and modern backend frameworks.
• Integrate AI and machine learning models into production environments with a focus on reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Develop and own AI-powered features from concept through deployment.
• Monitor and evaluate AI system performance in both testing and production environments.
• Troubleshoot issues across AI services, model serving infrastructure, and backend systems.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, and platform improvements.
