EY is seeking a senior engineer to Build AI agents that execute complex workflows from intent to verified outcomes. You will design agent architectures, durable context, and safe, observable behavior across enterprise integrations while preserving control and security.

This Challenger program role entails shipping large-language-model work, policy-aligned tooling, and durable monitoring. A strong track record in distributed systems and production ML is required, with up to 50% travel and hybrid

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study.
• 9–12+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong production software or ML engineering background with live systems ownership.
• Hands-on experience shipping large-language-model apps, agents, or complex workflows.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or production-service languages.
• Experience with model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval, and tool use.
• Async state, concurrency, retries, and failure recovery.
• Experience implementing access boundaries and scoped authority.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model for deterministic vs autonomous agents.
• Build dependable tools and interfaces with clear contracts and error handling.
• Engineer agent behavior, planning, routing, delegation, and handoffs.
• Create durable context from instructions, memory, and environment feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities and budgets.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for verified outcomes and recovery.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state and safe retries.
• Make behavior observable with end-to-end traces and production insights.
• Protect user control with clear intervention points.
