Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced engineer to join Challenger and build AI agents that operate across complex, enterprise workflows. You’ll shape execution models, manage long-running behavior, and ensure safety and observability in production systems.

We value 9–12+ years in software or applied ML engineering, hands-on delivery of agent or model-driven workflows, and strong Python/TypeScript skills. Travel up to 50% with hybrid office options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• 9-12+ years of relevant experience in software or ML engineering.
• Hands-on experience shipping agent/model-driven workflows.
• Strong Python/TypeScript and production systems experience.
• Knowledge of model APIs, retrieval, tools, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model for agent architectures.
• Build dependable tools with clear contracts and error handling.
• Engineer agent behavior across workflows and state.
• Create durable context with memory and environment feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities and credentials.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests and verified outcomes.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state and rollback.
• Make behavior observable with end-to-end tracing.
• Protect user control with intervention points and safe resumption.
• Build shared capability through cross-team collaboration.
