Frederick County Government is seeking an Agriculture Business Development Specialist to plan, market, and manage strategies that retain and grow the county’s agriculture industry. You will work in a two‑person team, coordinating with County departments and external partners to advance policies and programs that boost agricultural business growth.

The role focuses on workforce development, economic development, and industry trends, with a hybrid work arrangement and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture economics, agriculture business, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
• Knowledge of agriculture, agricultural business development, public relations, and marketing principles.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and cross‑department coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, develop, and maintain relationships with farms, ag businesses, industry organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, and partners to support agricultural, economic, and workforce development.
• Develop, execute, and evaluate business retention, expansion, and attraction strategies to grow local farms and agricultural enterprises.
• Conduct research on labor market trends, demographics, and industry activity to support planning and client services.
• Coordinate with County departments and State agencies to streamline permitting and identify financial assistance and grants.
• Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations for County leadership and stakeholders.
