Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Functional Analyst for a remote role in the Veterans Affairs domain. The candidate will lead requirements capture for software teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and manage requirements in an ALM/JIRA environment. Strong SAFe/Agile experience, advanced MS Office skills, and a Master’s in Engineering are required.

Qualifications

• Strong background in software development and SAFe/Scaled Agile
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences
• Attention to detail, customer service mindset, and problem-solving abilities
• Experience conducting independent research to support complex questions
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office including Excel
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to integrate information from multiple sources
• Expertise with JIRA and requirements management in ALM environments
• Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects

Responsibilities

• Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams
• Collaborate with business users, IT and leadership to elaborate and document requirements in an ALM tool
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool
• Perform Agile requirement management for a product team
• Analyze user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements
• Conduct user interviews and develop business process models and specifications
• Gather and document business, functional, technical requirements from customers and stakeholders
• Refine user stories and decompose into backlog items with acceptance criteria
• Use JIRA for Requirements Management, Testing, and Defect Management
• Collect, track, and monitor system and business requirements
• Validate requirements and integration
• Conduct backlog refinement sessions
• Coordinate with Systems Engineers to assess technical impact
• Manage requirements for multiple projects
• Produce project documents for the client
• Identify and manage risks affecting progress
• Develop and maintain project/product backlog(s)
• Own change control and change requests
• Facilitate configuration management for artifacts
• Document traceability amongst requirements, tests, and risks
• Report execution status and metrics across SAFe lifecycle
• Identify required tasks and interdependencies to create well-documented stories
• Become a product functional SME
• Lead and mentor junior analysts
• Build relationships with product and business owners
• Support development team understanding requirements
• Follow Scrum; deliver requirements and specs for Sprint teams
• Remove impediments to complete Sprints
• Provide clear qualitative and quantitative information to teams
• Support change control processes
