Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a highly motivated Sr Mechanical Engineer to lead avionics packaging, LRUs, and structural design for complex missile systems. You will guide cross-functional teams and coordinate with systems engineering to translate military standards into robust hardware requirements.

The role emphasizes end-to-end systems engineering, design for manufacturability, and collaboration with external subcontractors to maintain design integrity on high-priority DoD portfolios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s or 8+ with a master’s in mechanical systems for aerospace/defense.
• Experience owning end-to-end systems engineering in large projects.
• Experience with missile/high-speed flight or advanced weapon systems.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and brief leadership.

Responsibilities

• Architect, lead, and deliver avionics, LRUs, and interfaces for missile systems.
• Design for flight structures, manufacturability, and electronics packaging.
• Contribute to all development phases: planning, design, test, delivery.
• Lead multi-disciplinary IPTs for structures and cross-functional teams.
• Translate military standards into hardware requirements.
