Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Systems Integration & Avionics Engineer to support maintenance, integration, inspection, and troubleshooting for small airborne missiles, UAS, and payload effectors. This role covers avionics, instrument systems, and related airborne electronics in a dynamic prototype environment.

The candidate will contribute to design decisions, work cross-functionally, and may serve as crew chief or provide field support and training as mission needs evolve.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 6 years of related experience, associate with 4 years, or bachelor with 2 years.
• Experience in avionics/instrumentation maintenance, repair, and integration.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation drawings.
• Experience with UAS or missile launcher systems and maintenance.
• Proficiency with hand tools, electronic test equipment, and diagnostic instrumentation.
• US Citizenship and eligibility for Secret Clearance.
• Willingness to travel and deploy; flexible schedules for mission needs.

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate new solutions as part of a prototype design team.
• Integrate avionics, sensors, or control systems into UAS platforms; install, wire, mount, align, configure, document, and test.
• Inspect, service, maintain, and calibrate avionics/instrument systems.
• Troubleshoot discrepancies using manuals, schematics, and test equipment.
• Maintain records and support transition from prototype to production.
