Job summary

Portal Space Systems in Bothell, WA is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality and Materials Engineer to ensure spaceflight hardware is compliant and reliable, by guiding supplier qualification, audits, and process validation across sourcing and engineering teams.

You will lead NPI gates, review materials and processes, and collaborate with design, build, and propulsion teams to reduce risk and improve supplier performance while maintaining ITAR and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a materials/engineering discipline relevant to aerospace.
• 7+ years of aerospace/high-reliability manufacturing experience.
• Experience conducting supplier audits and qualification of materials/processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform supplier qualification, audits, onboarding and capability reviews.
• Review drawings, BOMs, tolerances, and material requirements during sourcing and new product introduction.
• Establish supplier qualification gates, review process flows, and acceptance plans prior to production release.
• Evaluate alternate suppliers, materials, processes to improve quality, cost and lead time.
• Provide oversight for special processes (heat treatment, welding, brazing, machining, coatings, additive manufacturing).
• Monitor supplier performance via scorecards, SPC, and corrective actions.
