Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to design, analyze, and test primary and secondary structures for the New Glenn program. You will own hardware through the full lifecycle from design to test, applying safe, cost-conscious solutions.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in aerospace structural design, strong CAD skills (Creo/CATIA/SolidWorks), and experience with hand calculations and FEM tools, with US eligibility for clearance and a passion for flight hardware.

Qualifications

• Minimum B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years related experience in structural design and analysis of aerospace structures.
• Strong mechanical design and integration using 3D CAD software.
• GD&T (ASME Y14.5) proficiency.
• Structural design of metallic components and assemblies.
• Vehicle load path distribution and strength sizing.
• Material selection and manufacturing techniques.
• Experience with hand-calculation and FEM tools (Ansys/Nastran/Optistruct).
• Excellent communication and ability to present to stakeholders.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible for government clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, analysis, development, and testing of primary and secondary structures, including composites and metallic parts.
• Conduct trades studies to meet performance, schedule, and cost targets.
• Create CAD models, drawings, assemblies, and interface control documents.
• Develop test plans and documentation for flight hardware.
• Plan and execute subsystem tests and analyze data.
• Review team work to identify design improvements and ensure quality.
• Coordinate with manufacturing during critical build phases.
• Lead root cause analyses for moderate-scope NCs.
• Mentor junior engineers into technical leads.
