Job summary

Honeywell is seeking a Senior Advanced Project Engineer to lead end-to-end development and launch of complex hardware, firmware, software, and mechanical projects for the FIRE portfolio within Building Automation. You will manage global cross-functional teams and report to the Engineering Program Management Director.

The role is based in Atlanta, GA or Northford, CT on a hybrid schedule and focuses on delivering safe, reliable, and efficient solutions that meet customer needs and business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (sciences, technology, engineering).
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience leading complex engineering projects.
  • 3+ years of hardware/software integrated product development with global teams.
  • Strong knowledge of product development principles and project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency with MS Project: creating and maintaining complex schedules and updates.

Responsibilities

  • Lead 3-4 concurrent global new product introduction programs.
  • Develop and maintain project roadmaps, schedules and budgets.
  • Direct multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams (10-15+ members).
  • Manage scope and change control with stakeholders.
  • Drive commercialization focusing on revenue, cost, and business objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and manufacturing for production transfer.
  • Report program status to senior leadership with milestones and finances.
  • Ensure compliance with Honeywell processes and continuous improvement.

Job Description

As a Senior Advanced Project Engineer here at Honeywell, you will lead end-to-end development and launch of complex engineering projects that combine hardware, Firmware, Software, and mechanical Engineering for FIRE portfolio within Building Automation Strategic Business Group. In this role, you'll apply your advanced Project Management skills to lead global cross-functional teams, manage project scope and execution, and deliver innovative solutions that improve safety, reliability, and efficiency for our customers.

You will report directly to our Engineering Program Management Director, and you'll work out of our Atlanta, GA or Northford, CT location on a Hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead 3-4 concurrent global new product introduction programs, overseeing integrated hardware, Firmware, and/or software, and/or mechanical product development using Agile methodology.
  • Develop and maintain project release roadmaps, schedules, and budgets using MS Project or smart sheets, ensuring delivery within defined scope, cost, and time targets.
  • Direct multi-disciplinary cross-functional engineering and operations teams (10-15+ team members across multiple sites), ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely execution.
  • Define program scope and manage change control, including negotiations with stakeholders on program contracts and scope variations.
  • Drive commercialization success, ensuring products target revenue, cost, and business objectives while balancing technical feasibility.
  • Identify and mitigate risks proactively, while capitalizing on opportunities to improve program outcomes.
  • Work along with Integrated supply chain teams and manufacturing, ensuring readiness for production and successful design transfer into factory processes.
  • Report program status to senior leadership, providing clear updates on milestones, risks, and financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with Honeywell's product development process and tools and continuous improvement practices, applying structured problem-solving to strengthen program results.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams and, when required, engage directly with customers to align technical execution with business needs.
Qualifications
You Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, & engineering.
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience managing complex engineering projects and leading cross-functional teams.
  • 3+ years of experience in Product development experience with hardware/software integrated products and global development teams.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering product development principles and project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency with MS Project tool, including ability to create and maintain complex schedules, Project Plans and Project updates.
We Value
  • PMP Certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development or project management experience with hardware/software integrated products and global development teams.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt certification.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external customers at all organizational levels
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, and energize cross-functional teams across multiple sites
  • Ability to quickly assess unclear, complex, and ambiguous situations and reduce into distinct, clear, timely, and stable direction for the development team
  • Ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
