Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead multi-discipline design collaboration and integrate Honeywell Aerospace System Packs into aircraft. The role champions design standards and mentors the team.

You will drive digital engineering initiatives, lead design efforts, and improve processes with automation, GD&T, NX, and Teamcenter expertise. Strong communication and problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (engineering or related fields).
• 7+ years of mechanical design experience for aircraft systems and components.
• 7+ years with Siemens NX or similar CAD software.
• 7+ years with Siemens Teamcenter or similar PLM software.
• 7+ years of GD&T experience and robust design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-discipline design collaboration to integrate Honeywell Aerospace System Packs into aircraft.
• Champion design standards and methods within the design team.
• Mentor less-experienced designers and provide technical leadership.
• Lead design efforts within the Mechanical Design Engineering team.
• Provide technical expertise in integrating Honeywell Aerospace systems into aircraft and turbomachinery/heat transfer products.
• Develop and refine design definitions for turbomachinery, heat transfer, and environmental control systems.
• Lead proposals and RFIs with mechanical design insight and respond to stakeholders.

Job description

• Lead multi-discipline design collaboration to assemble and integrate Honeywell Aerospace System Packs
• Champion design standards and methods within the larger design team
• Lead design efforts within the Mechanical Design Engineering team
• Provide internal and external customer support for Systems, Turbo, and Heat Transfer products
• Lead the advancement of digital engineering within the design team
• Improve existing mechanical design engineering processes by identifying and eliminating non-value-added tasks and introducing automation, including guide files, parametric design, and AI
• Mentor less-experienced designers
• Provide technical expertise as a Mechanical Design subject matter expert in integrating Honeywell Aerospace systems into aircraft and developing turbomachinery and heat transfer products
• Hold technical responsibility for the complete design definition of products related to turbomachinery, heat transfer, and/or environmental control systems
• Serve as a mechanical design subject matter expert during proposal and RFI response efforts
• Provide reports to internal and external customer stakeholders
• Lead efforts to resolve supplier, production, and customer issues
• Guide designs across multiple products to improve design for manufacturability and reduce cost

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
• At least 7 years of experience in the mechanical design of integrating components and systems for commercial and military aircraft applications
• At least 7 years of experience with Siemens NX or similar CAD software
• At least 7 years of experience with Siemens Teamcenter or similar PLM software
• At least 7 years of experience using GD&T
• Ability to support multiple projects
• Willingness to learn, apply, and mentor others on new design concepts and methodologies
• Prior experience working with the integration of Honeywell Aerospace Systems in aircraft
• Prior experience working with Environmental Control Systems, Turbomachinery and Heat Transfer products
• Ability to lead, motivate, develop and mentor others
• Mechanical Engineering degree
• Expertise in NX and Teamcenter
• Experience with new product development and systems integration design in an aerospace environment
• Ability to analyze and solve complex and challenging problems
