Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a highly skilled aerospace engineer in Phoenix, AZ to perform aerodynamic and thermodynamic analyses using 1D and 3D methods. You will design turbine engine components and leverage CFD/HT analyses with NX CAD tools to develop and test performance.

The role requires a MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, a BS in a technical field, and 5 years of experience in product design and development. Strong communication in English and U.S. work authorization are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics).
• MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5 years’ experience in a technical discipline (including graduate studies).
• Demonstrated experience with product design and development.
• US Citizenship or lawful permanent resident due to export control restrictions.
• Strong fundamentals in aerodynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics and CFD.
• Experience with CFD, preferably StarCCM+, Fluent, or CFX.
• Proficiency in MATLAB programming.
• Demonstrated MS Office proficiency.
• Good knowledge of the aerospace industry.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States full-time.
• Candidate must be a U.S. Person or have export authorization ability.

• Perform aerodynamic and thermodynamic analyses using both 1D and 3D methods
• Design gas turbine engine inlet, exhaust, nacelle, compartment and duct systems
• Use advanced design and analysis tools, including CFD and CHT analyses
• Perform computer-aided design using NX software
• Conduct aerodynamic and thermodynamic testing
• Specify instrumentation, create test plans, write results reports, and post-process data
• Improve aerodynamic and thermal analysis and test tools
• Support internal and external customers, with occasional travel
• Prepare technical presentations and reports
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation in mechanical design and product performance
• Participate in testing designs in Honeywell’s laboratories and aircraft
• Meet or exceed Voice of Customer requirements
• Report directly to the Engineering Manager

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
• Masters of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• 5 years’ experience in a technical discipline, which can include graduate studies
• Demonstrated experience with product design and development
• US Citizen or lawful permanent resident due to export control restrictions
• Strong fundamental educational background in aerodynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics and CFD
• Strong understanding of detailed aerodynamics analyses and/or test methods
• Experience in fireproof design and test
• Experience with CFD, preferably commercial packages such as StarCCM+, Fluent, or CFX
• Proficiency with programming and scripting languages such as MATLAB
• Demonstrated mastery of MS Office software
• Good knowledge of the aerospace industry
• Proficient English writing, speaking and presenting skills
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
• Candidate must be a U.S. Person or have the ability to obtain an export authorization
