Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer in Fridley, MN to advance manufacturing processes for next‑generation implantable medical devices. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Materials Engineering or related field with 4+ years in manufacturing engineering (or Master’s with 2+ years, or PhD with 0+ years).
• Hands-on experience with laser processing, resistance welding and joining technologies, precision manufacturing, or related advanced methods.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes via structured experimentation, process characterization, and problem solving.
• Experience analyzing process performance and using data-driven approaches to establish process capability and solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes involving laser welding, laser cutting, laser marking, laser texturing, resistance welding, and other precision joining technologies.
• Lead feasibility studies, rapid prototyping, and structured experimentation to evaluate manufacturability and risk.
• Design and execute DOE, process characterization, and test methods to establish process windows and correlate parameters to performance.
• Develop manufacturing solutions for implantable assemblies, hermetic packaging, leads, and high-reliability components.
• Collaborate with Design, Materials, Technology, and R&D teams to influence design decisions and tolerancing.
• Develop and troubleshoot hermetic sealing and helium leak testing to meet device requirements.
• Create tooling, fixturing, alignment, handling, and assembly solutions for prototypes and development builds.
• Support process transfer, scale-up, and technology implementation with internal and external sites.
