Job summary

Ford is seeking a Manufacturing Technology Development leader to drive the creation and scaling of EV propulsion manufacturing technologies across global sites. You will guide cross-functional teams in ideation, design, and implementation of prototype tooling and processes, ensuring robust, testable solutions for high-volume production.

Job description

  • Develop, implement and scale new manufacturing technology for Product Programs aligned to Product Design and Global Manufacturing Engineering strategies
  • Lead development of manufacturing technologies, processes, tooling, equipment and engineering standards for EV powertrain propulsion manufacturing systems
  • Collaborate with Product Design and Global Manufacturing Engineering Skill Teams to identify, define and prioritize manufacturing technology initiatives
  • Establish and cascade Manufacturing Technology Development Roadmaps for EV Manufacturing Core Commodity Areas
  • Benchmark internal and external best practices, processes, industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Develop technical core competency for e-Drive Assembly Systems and Battery Pack Assembly Systems
  • Lead Ford and external supplier cross-functional teams through ideation, concept generation, design, build and testing of prototype tooling and equipment
  • Apply system engineering, Six Sigma and data-driven methods to validate process robustness before production implementation
  • Develop facility floor-space and layout requirements for Ford and non-Ford facilities
  • Plan, schedule and lead installation of process automation prototype tooling and equipment
  • Interface with MTD, UAW and supplier partners for testing and prove-out
  • Coordinate project activities and travel across Ford on-site, supplier on-site and remote off-site locations
  • Manage project portfolio administration, including budgets, funding submissions, supplier quotes, purchase orders, invoices and financial accounting
  • Prepare technical and strategic packages for review and approval by peer, cross-team, cross-organizational and senior leadership groups
  • Grow, secure and protect company intellectual property
  • Create technology documentation and facilitate knowledge transfer and technology replication across global manufacturing sites
  • Participate in mentoring, coaching and learning-cascade activities
  • Advocate for a manufacturing technology innovation culture across the enterprise
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Systems Engineering or related discipline
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong leadership, motivation and team building skills
  • Exceptional project management, multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a dynamic collaborative team setting
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to convey engineering and technical information with ease
  • Adept with Digital 3D/Simulation Tools and Methods: AutoCAD, 3DX, CATIA, Siemens TeamCenter
  • Proficient with the entire suite of Microsoft Office applications and tools
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Domestic relocation is not available for this position
  • Preferred: Master of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Systems Engineering or related discipline
  • Preferred: Foundational education and knowledge in EV Manufacturing Systems and processes
  • Preferred: Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment with focus on production-related process automation
  • Preferred: Familiarity with new program planning, implementation, launch deliverables and plant support requirements
  • Preferred: Exposure interacting with Senior Leadership Teams across Manufacturing, Product Design and Manufacturing Sites
  • Preferred: Expertise in Data Analysis Methods and Statistical Process Control and/or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
