Job summary

The City of New York’s Department of Social Services (DSS) through HRA/DHS is seeking a Principal Administrative Associate III to serve as a Special Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Training and Logistical Support. The role manages large-scale initiatives, tracks outcomes, and collaborates across agencies on training programs.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with progressive clerical/administrative experience, and strong communication and Excel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or approved equivalent with progressive clerical/administrative experience.
  • Administrative supervisory experience required at least one year.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of NYS social service policy/procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and lead large-scale DSS/HRA/DHS project initiatives with senior OPPT staff.
  • Create and manage reports to track outcomes and monitor compliance.
  • Research training data from ABSORB LMS to prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Liaise with agency units and city entities on training needs and best practices.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding training content and curricula; discuss outcomes with the Deputy Commissioner.
  • Prepare management surveys and evaluate organizational structures for programs.
  • Analyze procedures and training effectiveness; provide recommendations.
  • Monitor Federal, State, and local policy changes affecting training processes.
