Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Additive Specialist to operate, program, and optimize additive manufacturing equipment in a prototyping lab.

You will handle machine operation, slicing software, and material processing to deliver high-quality parts while identifying inefficiencies and guiding requests across the locality. You will work with SLS, FDM, SLA technologies, perform basic troubleshooting, and continuously improve build setups and processes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a technical additive manufacturing, prototype lab or R&D environment (2–4 years).
• Proficient with machine operations and slicing/build prep software; aware of material properties across key 3D printing techs.
• Ability to work semi-independently with sound technical judgment and autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Program, optimize, and schedule build layouts using GrabCad and PreForm.
• Operate and troubleshoot designated 3D printing equipment and shop areas.
• Overssee post-processing (cleaning, sanding, deburring, bonding, finishing) to meet specs.
• Experiment with build setups and materials to improve process consistency.
• Maintain communication with team and national department.
• Manage lab logistics and raw material inventory, support shipping.
