Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Additive Specialist to operate, program, and optimize additive manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced prototype environment.

You will handle setup, execution, and optimization of multiple 3D printing technologies, ensuring high-quality parts while identifying process improvements. Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of hands-on experience with SLS, FDM, and SLA, strong understanding of slicing software, and the ability to work semi-independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years hands-on experience in additive manufacturing, prototype lab, or R&D.
• Understanding of machine operations, slicing/build prep software, and material properties across key 3D printing tech.
• Able to work semi-independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Program, optimize, and schedule build layouts using GrabCad and PreForm to maximize part quality and throughput across SLS, FDM, SLA.
• Maintain readiness of 3D printing equipment and shop areas; perform setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
• Oversee post-processing operations to meet engineering and design specs.
• Experiment with build setups and materials to improve process consistency and reduce inefficiencies.
• Communicate with team and department to coordinate lab activities and logistics.
