Job summary

Rivian Automotive is seeking a Fabrication Technician to help build prototype components and fully custom vehicles. You will work closely with engineers and the fabrication team to turn designs into tangible parts and assemblies, using a range of materials and processes.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in automotive fabrication, strong welding/metalworking skills, and experience with manual mills/lathes. The role involves 10% travel and a robust emphasis on hands-on problem solving and iteration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fabrication work experience in the automotive industry.
• Valid driver license with clean record.
• Strong welding and metal fabrication skills.
• Knowledge of shop tools and software.
• Proficiency with manual mill and lathe.
• Knowledge setting up surface plate with CMM.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate complex parts with metals, composites or wood.
• Build parts and assemblies per engineering drawings.
• Integrate with design engineers to improve parts and prototypes.
• Work independently with initiative to solve problems quickly.
• Use critical thinking to devise solutions for new problems.
• Create physical models with willingness to fail fast and iterate.
• Build and assemble prototype vehicles to meet stated requirements.
