Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Additive Specialist in California to program, optimize, and operate multi-technology 3D printing workflows.

You will work in a fast-paced prototype lab, ensuring high-quality parts and efficient throughput across SLS, FDM, and SLA systems. The role requires 2–4 years of hands-on additive manufacturing experience, strong knowledge of slicing software, and the ability to troubleshoot and improve process efficiency.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years hands-on experience in a technical additive manufacturing, prototype lab, or R&D environment.
• Near-full understanding of machine operations, slicing/build preparation software, and material properties across key 3D printing technologies.
• Ability to work semi-independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Program, optimize, and schedule build layouts using GrabCad and PreForm for multiple 3D printing technologies.
• Maintain readiness and operate designated 3D printing equipment; perform basic troubleshooting.
• Oversee post-processing operations to meet engineering and design specifications.
• Experiment with build setups and materials to improve process consistency.
• Communicate effectively with the team and department.
• Manage raw material inventory and support part shipping logistics.
