Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to join the Advertising Technology team in Seattle. You will build real-time ad delivery systems handling ranking, auctions, and budget enforcement at scale, with emphasis on low latency and reliability.

Collaborate with product, ML, and data teams to integrate ML signals into high-throughput services. You will mentor engineers, drive design discussions, and uphold high-quality code, testing, and observability standards while advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Experience with data-driven systems, ML-powered features or A/B platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience building/deploying backend APIs (gRPC) and streaming/batch data processing.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and operational best practices.

Responsibilities

• Optimize bidding, ranking and pacing for ad delivery to surface relevant ads.
• Build and scale systems for ad serving and ad selection across Expedia Group network.
• Apply software design principles to deliver low-latency, high-throughput services.
• Collaborate with Product, ML, Data Science, and Platform teams on features like relevance optimization.
• Advocate for high-quality code, automated testing, and observability.
• Participate in operational reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design discussions.
