Job summary

Expedia Group Advertising is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to join our Advertising Technology team in Seattle. You will build and operate real-time ad delivery systems powering ad ranking, auctions, bidding, and budget enforcement at scale.

You’ll collaborate with Product, ML Data Science, and Platform teams to integrate with APIs and microservices, applying ML-driven signals into high-throughput backend services and scaling with business growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Experience with data-driven systems, ML-powered features, or A/B experimentation platforms.
• Proficient in Java or Kotlin; experience with gRPC and streaming/batch processing.

Responsibilities

• Optimize bidding, ranking and pacing for guaranteed and non-guaranteed ad delivery.
• Build and scale systems for ad serving and selection across Expedia Group’s network.
• Apply software design principles for low-latency, high-throughput services.
• Collaborate with Product, ML teams on relevance optimization and performance modeling.
• Champion high-quality code, automated testing, and observability.
• Engage in operational reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design discussions.
