Job summary

Sammons Financial Group is seeking a senior actuary to lead governance and controls across actuarial functions, driving analytics, data systems, and AI initiatives. The role oversees audits, model development, and regulatory compliance in a complex, data-driven environment.

You will manage multiple projects, mentor actuaries, and collaborate with other departments to harmonize modeling approaches while upholding our standards and governance framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related field is required.
• 8-10 years of actuarial experience preferred.
• Experience leading projects and supervising others preferred.
• Strong mathematical ability and attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills and ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of insurance contracts and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with data systems and governance.

Responsibilities

• Manage corporate actuarial governance and controls processes; serve as primary contact for audits.
• Develop analytical tools and data processes, including Power BI reporting and Alteryx workflows.
• Support use of artificial intelligence within actuarial functions.
• Apply knowledge of insurance contracts and regulatory requirements; oversee regulatory changes.
• Lead development of actuarial assumptions and modeling; document data sources.
• Create and interpret complex financial models; explain deterministic and stochastic projections.
• Understand accounting standards and reporting for insurance liabilities.
• Design and develop efficient data systems; ensure governance and documentation.
• Lead risk analysis and communicate to management.
• Manage multiple projects and develop team of actuaries/analysts.
• Collaborate with other departments; ensure consistent modeling approaches.
