Job summary

Sammons Financial Group Companies is seeking an experienced actuary to lead governance, analytics, and data initiatives across multiple business units. You will drive corporate controls, develop advanced tools, and lead AI-enabled improvements in actuarial processes.

The role requires strong math skills, leadership, and experience with Power BI and Alteryx. You will collaborate with departments, support regulatory compliance, and mentor a team of actuaries and analysts.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical ability and attention to detail.
• Experience with governance and audits in actuarial contexts.
• Proficiency with Power BI reporting and Alteryx workflows.
• Knowledge of insurance contracts and related regulations.
• Ability to lead projects and supervise others.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• FSA/ASA designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage corporate actuarial governance and controls; primary contact for audits.
• Develop and enhance analytical tools and data processes, including Power BI/Alteryx.
• Support AI initiatives within actuarial functions and processes.
• Apply knowledge of insurance contracts and regulations; update processes for changes.
• Lead development of assumptions for actuarial calculations and projections.
• Develop and interpret complex financial models and explain results.
• Understand accounting standards; tie model results to financials.
• Design data systems and oversee data analysis with governance.
• Identify actuarial risks; present risk analyses to management.
• Lead multiple projects; manage team performance and priorities.
• Collaborate across departments for consistent modeling approaches.
• Pursue ongoing actuarial education and attend conferences.
