Palomar Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join the growing actuarial team in a role bridging actuarial and adjacent functions. You will mentor juniors, lead cross-functional analyses, and develop automated models and workflows to support decisions across underwriting, finance, claims, and product areas.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of P&C actuarial experience, proficiency in SQL and Python, and ACAS/ FCAS preferred. On-site 2–3x/week; remote work options available.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of actuarial experience in P&C
• Strong understanding of actuarial methods and analytics
• Experience in pricing, reserving, reinsurance, capital modelling, or claims analytics
• Proficiency with SQL and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Python, VBA and/or R
• ACAS or FCAS preferred and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Perform actuarial analyses for assigned areas and explain results to stakeholders.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain actuarial models and methodologies with automation.
• Identify manual, repetitive processes and build automated workflows in SQL, Python, VBA or R.
• Translate reporting needs into clear data requests for Data Engineering and Program Managers.
• Coordinate across departments to align data definitions and reporting.
• Collaborate on program evaluation, onboarding, and portfolio analyses with cross-functional teams.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve models and turnaround times.
• Mentor junior analysts and support actuarial student initiatives.
• Monitor portfolio performance, profitability and trends to inform business decisions.
