Palomar is seeking a motivated Jr. Actuarial Analyst to join our team in California. The role focuses on reserving analyses, actuarial reporting, and data-driven decision support, offering hands-on experience with insurance data frameworks.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of experience in an actuarial or analytical role.
• Minimum of 1 actuarial exam passed, with a commitment to pursuing credentials (ACAS/FCAS).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with SQL, Python, R, or other programming languages.
• Exposure to actuarial concepts, insurance data, or predictive modeling.
• Experience or coursework in Property and Casualty Insurance is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reserving analyses for assigned books of business using Arius and other actuarial tools.
• Support actuarial reporting and statistical reporting, ensuring accuracy and quality in data analysis.
• Provide analytical support for reinsurance and pricing evaluations.
• Contribute to program reviews and assist in analyzing new business opportunities.
• Collaborate with other teams to enhance data-driven decision-making and support actuarial data needs.
• Participate in data development projects, improving internal databases and analytical capabilities.
• Engage in special projects and initiatives as assigned.
