Benchmark Senior Living in Massachusetts is seeking a Community Associate to develop and implement an engaging seven-day activity program for residents, leading individual and group activities, and supporting independent pursuits.

The role emphasizes understanding residents’ backgrounds, abilities, and dementia considerations, promoting participation, and communicating changes to the care team. A detail-oriented, compassionate candidate will thrive in this environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of aging and disability issues.
• Training and knowledge in recreational activities.
• Training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
• Coordinates multiple tasks, demonstrates a positive attitude, and works well under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing and implementing an innovative seven day a week activity program that is engaging.
• Leads and implements one-on-one, small group and large group activities according to the programming schedule.
• Supports, encourages and directs independent activity pursuits, both individually and in small groups.
• Supports the resident’s abilities by understanding that all aspects of care can be viewed as an activity.
• Demonstrates knowledge about residents regarding background, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity and attention span.
• Encourages and motivates residents to attend and participate in programming.
• Communicates any changes in residents' condition or behavior to Harbor Care Director.
• Stays with group at all times when on excursions.
