Job summary

Remote-first Accounting Manager - Onboarding is sought to lead a growing client onboarding function. You will supervise onboarding accountants, handle new client transitions post-signature, and ensure clean, well-documented handoffs to ongoing CAS work.

You will guide teams through catch-ups, reconciliations, and setup, coordinating with tax teams to support clients with services. Strong leadership and client communication are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of accounting experience, with Senior Accountant level or above.
• Hands-on catch-up bookkeeping and accounting cleanup experience.
• Experience with both for-profit and nonprofit accounting.
• Ability to manage a high volume of concurrent client engagements.
• Leadership, training, supervising, or reviewing others’ work.
• Excellent client communication and clear accounting explanations.
• Strong organization, detail-orientation, and deadline management.
• CPA is preferred or progress toward CPA; onboarding/process improvements helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of onboarding accountants; set quality standards and develop staff.
• Deliver as primary lead for new clients post-signing; manage expectations and relationships.
• Oversee historical bookkeeping, catch-up work, reconciliations, and cleanups.
• Set up new client accounts in internal systems; guide tool connections.
• Manage client transitions from previous providers; communicate new workflows.
• Ensure accurate handoffs to CAS accountants with thorough documentation.
• Coordinate with tax teams for clients receiving tax services; share onboarding findings.
• Monitor onboarding volume across stages; identify bottlenecks and timelines.
• Develop onboarding procedures, checklists, and workflows for consistency.
